Acne Remedy: Turmeric and Aloe Vera

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp Aloe Vera
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric




Method:

  • Mix the ingredients to make a paste
  • Apply to your acne. Leave on for 15 minutes
  • Rinse off
  • Use daily



Why it works:

Aloe Vera is able to stimulate collagen production. This quickens healing and wound repair. When your skin is inflamed the aloe vera cools it down and helps your skin heal. It also has antibiotic activity which helps kill bacteria and fungi. It helps treat tissue injury and kill bad bacteria so it works well for acne. Turmeric helps reduce inflammation because it can block the production of certain prostaglandin chemicals. It is also an anti-biotic agent.


Caution: Turmeric leaves a yellow stain on your skin

Acne Remedy: Holy Basil

Ingredients:
  • Holy Basil





Method:

  1. Use holy basil extract, juice from the fresh leaves or grind the leaves and apply it to your acne
  2. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse it off
  3. Use daily



Why it works


Holy Basil has numerous health benefits. It is abundant in flavonoids, essential oils and fatty acids. Triglyceride is a component in basil that helps reduce inflammation. The oils in the leaf have antiseptic properties which help reduce the redness of the acne and prevents it from becoming worse. Basil can neutralize free radicals and block the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. Basil also reduces the production of stress hormones which is one of the main causes of acne.

Acne Remedy: Fenugreek Paste

Ingredients:
  • 1 tbsp Fenugreek powder
  • 1 tbsp water


Method:
  1. Mix the ingredients to make a paste
  2. Apply the paste to the affected area and leave on for 15 minutes
  3. Rinse off
  4. Use daily




Why it works

Fenugreek contains volatile oil and flavonoids which are good for your skin. Fenugreek also contains anti-oxidants and anti-bacterial chemicals. These chemicals draw out the infection from acne and reduce it’s redness and inflammation.


Acne Remedy: Cinnamon and Lime

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Method:
  1. Mix the ingredients to make a paste 
  2. Apply it to the affected area and leave it on overnight
  3. Wash it off in the morning
  4. Use daily



Why it works:

Lime helps kill the bacteria in the pimple and prevents it from getting infected. It also helps reduces the redness. Cinnamon has oil containing antiseptics, astringents and carminatives. All of these together helps reduce the inflammation and redness of the acne and overtime, clearing it altogether.
