Insect Bite Remedy: Toothpaste

Photo Credit: The Adventures of Kristin & Adam
Ingredients:

  • Regular Toothpaste

Method:
  1. Apply the toothpaste to the affected area to relieve itching
  2. Use when bite gets itchy

Why it works

When you apply toothpaste to an insect bite it dries it up and draws out all the bad germs. The affected area swells because your body is releasing histamine to fight the bacteria from the bite. The menthol in the toothpaste helps cool and relieve the itching. The triclosan reduces the inflammation. This relieves the redness and reduces the swelling. The bite can now heal faster.
